JNF Walter Sisulu Environmental Centre Home

The Jewish National Fund, Walter Sisulu Environmental Centre in Mamelodi is an environmental education centre that aims to develop community conservation champions for the environment.

Our mission is to create a culture of community conservation in Mamelodi and Southern Tshwane with the aim of developing awareness amongst the youth to inspire and motivate them to preserve and utilise the wealth of our natural heritage.

The JNF has raised and funded R 3.3 million for the development of the centre, its outdoor living classroom and the internal displays, furniture and fittings from a range of funders, with a significant contribution from the National Lottery Development Trust Fund.

The centre demonstrates in practical and visible way actions that could be taken by South Africans that promote both development objectives and climate change mitigation. Interactive educational programmes ensure that this is achieved in an entertaining and stimulating way.
